Welcome to the Raytown Bass Club

Welcome to the official website of the Raytown Bass Club.  Thank you for visiting our bass club’s site and please feel free to explore.

The Raytown Bass Club was originally incorporated in 1975 as non-profit corporation in the State of Missouri.  The Raytown Bass Club has members from the greater Kansas City Metro area and we fish lakes from Truman Lake to Table Rock Lake to Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees in Oklahoma.  Since 1975, our bass fishing club has focused on competitive bass fishing in bass tournament settings.  Our club members are anglers of all different skill sets from experienced bass tournament anglers to fishermen who have only recently decided to try fishing in bass tournaments.

While we do have an emphasis on our bass tournaments, the Raytown Bass Club also believes in expanding the sport of bass fishing through teaching our members as much as we can in all aspects of the sport of bass fishing.  Our meetings are held the second Monday of every month from February through December at the Independence, Missouri Bass Pro Shop’s Conservation Room. Introductions start at 6:30 PM and the meeting begins at 7:00 PM.  We have discussions, short lectures, and guest speakers on a wide range of topics.  Topics discussed in the past have included the use of various bass lures, bass tournament preparations, handling a bass boat in inclement weather, and how to winterize your bass boat.

Annual membership dues are $50 per year.  The entry fee for each tournament is $30.  For membership information, please click here.

We are looking forward to an informative year with guest speakers that include Bass Federation League and The Bass Federation tournament anglers, bass and fishing guides from area lakes, and continuing our classes on the proper usage of various bass lures.

If this sounds like the kind of bass club or fishing organization you would like to be a part of, stop by one of our meetings or contact one of the officers or send the club an email.  We would enjoy the opportunity to meet you at our next bass club meeting.

February Meeting

This is a reminder that our next meeting will be Monday, February 8th, at the Bass Pro Shop in Independence, MO.  We meet in the Conservation Room.  Social time starts at 6:30 PM and the meeting starts at 7:00 PM.  Our guest speaker will be Pete Mathews (http://www.petemathews.com/).

Tips: HOW TO BUY A $240 ROD FOR A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY.

How ToDuring this off season, I made the decision to upgrade a couple of my rods.  After all, I reasoned that if I am going to continue to fish in tournaments, I need the equipment to compete.  So I spent the cold months of winter walking the isles of the local tackle suppliers and studying every article and review I could find on rods.  Finally, I made my decision.

 Hardbaits: How to Fish Crankbaits

How To
Crankbaits can be one of the most productive baits you can fish.  I discovered how productive crankbaits can be several years ago. Crankbaits are very versatile and can be used in many situations and under a variety of conditions.
